Shilajit, also known as mumio, is an organic mineral compound that forms efflorescence on mountain rocks. It is a viscous, brown-black resin-like substance that is formed as a result of natural decomposition of plants, among others, under the influence of high pressure, temperature and the action of microorganisms. Shilajit comes in four varieties, which differ in appearance and chemical composition. However, all types of the compound are a source of valuable substances, and one of the main components responsible for the properties of mumio is fulvic acid, the content of which is standardized Shilajit extract used in OstroVit preparation.
